Guillaume Grohé (1808–1885), born in the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt, established his career in Paris in 1827 and, together with his brother Jean-Michel, founded the Grohé Brothers workshop.

Their firm gained rapid acclaim, exhibiting at the Exhibition of the Products of Industry in 1834 and later supplying furniture to King Louis XVIII, King Louis-Philippe, Emperor Napoleon III, and Queen Victoria. Grohé specialized in Renaissance revival, Louis XV/XVI-style furniture, and bespoke pieces for palaces and major collectors.

His works were not only praised for their technical perfection but also for their imaginative use of symbolic motifs, which elevated furniture to the level of art. Explore our curated collection of luxury home décor here

After the retirement of his brother in 1861, Grohé ran the workshop alone until its closure in 1884, leaving behind a legacy of incomparable masterpieces that continue to define the golden age of French cabinetmaking.
